‘Welcome to Utrecht’ platform
Like many people from Utrecht, Today wants to support the 500 refugees staying in the city’s Beatrix theatre. To realize this goal, we teamed up with fellow agency JCM-Context and a network of communication professionals, creating our own platform in Utrecht: www.welkominutrecht.nu.
The platform brings together the stories of refugees, aid workers and initiators. It also functions as a smart portal to help agencies, local authorities and aid-agencies get involved as well as a handy guide for anyone who’d like to do something to help. The site can be used to communicate needs as they arise, and there’s a back-office run by volunteers who post all the stories and requests. We see it as a great compliment that Utrecht City Council has embraced the platform.
Naturally, politics plays a significant role in the refugee crisis, but citizens and business owners can also do a lot to help out. If you want to contribute to welcoming a new ‘Utrechter’ in any way, go to www.welkominutrecht.nu and find an initiative to join. Have a good idea yourself? Then start your own initiative.
